February 2017 – If you are a member of the West Bromwich Building Society please give your support to a member who is seeking to stand as a candidate for the board at the next AGM. Simon Johnson wants to enable members to have a voice in the running of this “mutual” society and that is the legal right of any member.
Simon, a retired 56 year old company director, needs to obtain 250 signatures in order to put his name forward. The chairman and secretary of this society did not make things easy for him in his attempt last year and rejected many nomination forms claiming that they did not qualify but refusing to provide reasons or be helpful in any way whatsoever. However with the help of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Simon is prepared to have another attempt and is seeking members of the West Bromwich Building Society who are willing to help nominate him.
Supporters must have membership of at least two years with a minimum stake holding (savings or mortgage) of £200.
Please help if you can to re-introduce the concept of genuine mutuality to this society.
